Our Story

Matthew
About Matthew
Matt runs a successful footwear agency which Natalie supports by writing and amending his email communications.
Matt's interests are athletics, WW2 and the history of the Plantagenets which as you can imagine makes for some pretty lively and confusing dinner party chat.
Matt is well loved for his Brandy Dance and stories of his early career choices including potato picking, professional gambler and the detective years.
Matt is at his happiest making spreadsheets, checking his bank balance and arguing arbitrarily on BBC Sports websites.

About Natalie
Natalie runs a Homeless Charity and when she's off the clock she dedicates her time to nagging Matt to take her on holiday.
A brilliant mum to Harry,  she loves nothing more than giving him lifts all over Leeds, watching him play football and listening to Matt and Harry endlessly make fun of her.
An avid Leeds fan, she seems to enjoy inflicting pain on herself 9 months of the year. Natalie is a great cook, however she only knows how to cook with mince and likes to put coriander in everything. She also fancies herself as a connoisseur of fine wine, however would be right at home with a bottle of Lambrini.
Natalie likes nothing more than settling down with the darts on an evening which suits Matt just fine.
About Matthew and Natalie
Introduced  to each other by Helen (Natalie's cousin) Matt and Natalie met a little later on in life aged 37. They were brought together by their shared interests in Darts and The Smiths. Matt couldn't fail to impress Natalie as he splashed out on their first date at a Britannia hotel.
In the last 6 years they have experienced many holidays, 3 house moves, 4000 meals out and countless trips to A and E (courtesy of Natalie's ailments).
They love nothing more than spending time with Harry, either at home or on holiday, walking and just being in each others company.

Welcome to our wedding website

Why Nerja?

As most of you will know, Nerja is a very special place for us. Matts family have been visiting Nerja since the mid 80s, and  both his mum and Auntie have villas here.

It is because of this, that Nerja was the first place we travelled to as a couple and very quickly became our 'Happy Place'.

It has been made even more special by the amount of happy memories the 3 of us have had there over the years, Harry loving the place made us love it even more!

We are so excited to welcome our friends and family to Nerja, in particular those who have never visited before!

Local Information

Nerja

Located in the historic region of La Axarquía, Nerja is bright town on the Málaga coast which has a beautiful sea front formed by beaches, coves and cliffs. Its historic quarter has fine examples of popular architecture, with lovely walks and emblematic spots such as the Balcón de Europa, a splendid viewpoint over the sea.

The area has been populated since prehistoric times, as the cave paintings found in the famous caves of Nerja, known as the “prehistoric cathedral”, reveal. Its busy calendar of festivals, as well as the tasty dishes which make up the local cuisine, make the attractions of Nerja complete.

Nerja, located on the western end of the Costa del Sol, has all the ingredients to charm any visitor. Its annual average temperature, around twenty degrees Celsius, the beautiful mountain landscape of Málaga's La Axarquía region, as well as a rugged coastline of beaches and cliffs, are just some of its attractions.

The beach of Burriana is one of the most important around the town. Backed by housing developments, it is an extensive stretch of sand some 700 metres long equipped with all kinds of facilities and services. On a cliff overlooking the beach stands the Parador de Turismo.La Torrecilla, El Salón or Calahonda, this latter one located under the Balcón de Europa, are other beaches in town. On them, the visitor will find everything is to hand: from housing developments, modern hotels and restaurants to shops and places to hire sports gear. Emerging from among picturesque cliffs are quiet coves of great natural beauty, such as La Caleta, la Cala Barranco de Maro or las Calas del Pino. On all of them, as well as being able to enjoy a refreshing dip, it is possible to do all kinds of water sports, from windsurfing to sailing.

The cave of NerjaThe cave of Nerja, discovered in 1959, is one of the town's major tourist attractions. Declared to be a Historic-Artistic Monument, it possess almost two kilometres of underground galleries which are open to the public. Here you can admire the surprising geological formations sculpted by the slow passing of the centuries. Highvaults and spacious halls decorated with columns, stalactites and stalagmites have caused it to be known as the “Prehistoric Cathedral”. The Hall of the Waterfall, so-called because of the peculiar shapes formed by its groups of stalagmites, is the exceptional setting for the Cave of Nerja Festival, which, for more than three decades, has gathered together the most prestigious figures from the world of music, dance and the performing arts.

Standing on the remains of a historic coastal bastion is one of the town's most emblematic spots: the Balcón de Europa, today transformed into a lively promenade which ends at the splendid viewpoint overlooking the sea. Striking among the coastal architecture are the great many watchtowers which stand along the shore. The Torre de Maro, a fine example of this kind of construction, provides some of the best views of the surrounding area
